The term Chiropractic stems from the greek words: "chiro" meaning hand and "practic" meaning practice. Throughout history prominent healers have understood a relationship between health and the condition of the spine, Hippocrates, for example, advised "Get knowledge of the spine, for this is the requisite for many diseases". Chiropractic, as a healthcare profession, was founded in 1895 by Daniel David (DD) Palmer.
He described his first spinal adjustment on a deaf janitor to whom he restored hearing after one adjustment of the upper spine. He then went on to use spinal adjustments to help with a variety of complaints and concluded that their effectiveness was based on eliminating nerve interference that was causing the patient's complaint. DD Palmer's son BJ Palmer continued his legacy and developed Chiropractic into a clearly defined health care system, aiding in getting it recognised as a licensed profession.
The chiropractic profession has advanced immeasurably since the days of DD and BJ Palmer with some of the original messages still standing - looking at the function of the spine to allow the nervous system to work effectively, which allows the body to function at its optimum.

Services
Chiropractic is a health care profession which specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that are due to mechanical dysfunction of several joints and the resulting effect on their related nerves.
The treatment involves safe and gentle adjustments by hand to free joints that are not functioning properly.
Poor, inadequate or incorrect function of the spine can cause irritation of the nerves and muscles that control our posture and movement.
This spinal nerve stress (which may be caused by factors such as wear and tear, poor diet, lack of exercise, poor posture and anxiety), can lead to symptoms of discomfort and pain, which are a warning sign that your body is not functioning properly.
