As a consultant shoulder and elbow surgeon, I have a close working relationship with physiotherapists.

If The Iveson Clinic cannot help then they will provide a timely referral on to me.
When an operation is required, the Iveson Clinic will provide excellent physiotherapy afterwards.

We are looking for a physiotherapist with at least three years post graduate experience, particularly in the musculo-skeletal field, with an approach and philosophy which is beyond purely advice and exercise and that employs the full range of hands on techniques and methods which allows the patient to achieve rapid and optimal improvement.
Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability, by using exercise, manual therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture, education and advice.
So often we are hearing of patients who are struggling with their condition which hasn't recovered with advice and exercises as provided by their local hospital.
The difference privately, is that we have time to offer traditional 'hands on' physiotherapy.
We have time to do a thorough examination, discuss our findings and if appropriate offer and commence a course of treatment to help the patient recover more speedily.
Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability, by using exercise, manual therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture, education and advice.
Physiotherapy aims to minimise the symptoms of the problem joint or injured area, with treatment specifically tailored to the condition, in the aim of gaining optimal recovery.
Aims of treatment will vary, depending on whether you have a recent injury or a long-term condition.
It is always advisable to seek treatment as soon as possible, as this will mean a quicker recovery and less time away from work or leisure activities.
Pilates has become a very popular exercise system.
It focuses on stretching and strengthening the body, with particular emphasis on the core muscles of the torso.
This can result in improving balance, muscle strength, flexibility and posture.
The system was developed by Joseph Pilates from Monchengladback in Germany.
His father was a gymnast and his mother a naturopath.
During the first half of the twentieth century, he developed a system of excercises which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body.
