Chiropractic adjustments usually do not hurt - there may be some short-lived discomfort, which quickly passes for most patients.
Any decision to take x-rays will be made at the time of consultation.
X-rays are used to firstly ensure the patient no harm, ruling out any contraindications to treatment, and to identify if the condition can be treated effectively by chiropractic.
All registered chiropractors are highly trained to take and interpret x-rays ensuring safe effective treatment.
All current research states that chiropractic is exceptionally effective if the condition is treated within the first 6 weeks of the injury.

The intervertebral discs are the pivotal axis of movement for the spinal column and have fibers that join into the vertebrae above and below.
The disc is made up of two components, the nucleus pulposus (center 1/3) and the annulus fibrosis (outer 2/3).The nucleus pulposus is a soft jelly like substance.
The outer annular fibers circulate the nucleus and act like rubber bands to provide a boundary wall for the disc.
The disc provides shock absorption and the ability for the vertebrae above and below to move.
